Band history

The Dead Normality formed late 2007 after the demise of the succesful metal formation Dead By Dawn. Vocalist Richard de Neve, guitarist Wouter Florusse and bass player Martijn Oster joined up with guitarist/producer Dennis Moerkerk and drummer Frank Debij (ex-Cypher, Acrid). The Dead Normality play a mix of classic thrash and melodic death metal. After a season of gigs, the band changed their bassist in February 2009. Martine Sipma (ex-Deleterious) joined the ranks. This was followed by more gigs and the band continued to work on new material.

On The Offensive
In October 2009, the EP ‘Killing Reality’ is released. This is the debut release of The Dead Normality. Drums were recorded August 2008 in the Excess Studios in Rotterdam. Guitars and vocals were recorded from March 2009 in the homestudio of lead guitarist Dennis Moerkerk. Dennis is also responsible for the EP’s production. Guitarist Wouter Florusse made the artwork, which deals with the horrors and heroes of World War II, as do the lyrics.

The Dead Normality will support their release with a series of shows throughout 2009 and 2010.

22-10-2009 | Release of "Killing Reality"
The Day of Days is upon us! Today we release our debut EP filled with five destructive metal tracks about the Horrors and Heroes of World War II. After months of hard work and production we finally achieved a level worthy of your banging heads. "Killing Reality" can be ordered here or at one of our live shows.

The time draws nigh! Our debut release 'Killing Reality' is currently in production and we are all very anxious to hold the end result in our grubby metal fingers. 08-06-2009 | Wacken Metal Battle
Sunday the 7th we competed in the Dutch Wacken Metal Battle 2009. We played a great show, but the jury judged Reason To Kill the winner, Horns up to them!!

We are going into hybernation for about two months as the summer season hits us. We are currently finishing our recordings, expecting the EP `Killing Reality´ to be out in October.

18-04-2009 | Finals Dutch Metal Battle
Friday April 17th we competed in the final round of the Dutch Metal Battle 2009. We had a great time in the new venue Atak in Enschede. The very talented youngsters of Symphony of Destruction beat us and won the competition. We reached second place, which allows us to play at the Wacken Metal Battle. This competition takes place on the 7th of June, in De Bosuil in Weert. The winner of this battle will have the opportunity to play at Wacken Open Air this year.

02-04-2009 | Next round Metal Battle
The Metal Battle continues. The Dead Normality placed itself for the finals by winning the semi finals in Tilburg. We will attack the Atak in Enschede on the 17th of April.

13-03-2009 | To War!
The Dead Normality took part in battle, Metal Battle to be exact, and fought its way through fierce competition to the second round. The next engagement will be at The Little Devil in Tilburg.

Meanwhile Martine has proven herself a worthy asset to the band and we are full steam on stage. Stay tuned for more news.
